World cup 2006

20 years ago I’d been stirred up with the prospect of an exciting 2006 World Cup and did a bit of blogging about it while we were still in the tournament. I found this on an old hard drive a few years ago so I must have saved it from whatever blog I had at the time, or wrote it in a document before posting it, rather than writing on the fly.

With this post I’ve left the text as is, terrible writing intact. I have got Claude to run over it and tidy up spelling of player names, formatting and punctuation so at least it’s kind of readable now. I’m posting it here for prosperity.

99 Crazy ways to order a pizza

Pretty sure I’ve had the text of this post from some time in the early to mid nineties when I first started surfing the good old interweb on my trusty Amiga 1200 via Demon Internet. I’m keeping it here as it was one of the first amusing things I read online back then, and also served to confirm my suspicions that one day the Internet is going to be 99% stuff like this and adverts and maybe the rest will actually hold useful information. Still, who cares. As long as it’s funny then who gives a shit now?

New competition, new game

Syntax Bombs next game coding competition started on May 4th so I’ve had this bank holiday weekend to have a think about what I’d like to do this time. There are three category mixes to go for and the idea is you have to pick one of them and follow both the types of game:

Option 1 : Retro / Strategy
Option 2 : Puzzle / Endless
Option 3 : Arcade / Open World

Website update

Thought I’d put myself out there a bit more with some social media buttons and add a lot of Twitter integration as it seems a lot more people are starting to get interested in our #ParadroidRemake blogs and tweets. While I was at it I also added in dedicated pages to some old games I’ve been involved with including a link to iDef, now it’s not currently mentioned on our website due to the Paradroid build up page.

Polishing the blog

I took the opportunity to do a little housekeeping on the blog today which ended up with me getting my hands dirty with some raw html again. Very basic stuff in the end, and the kind of stuff I used to do in my sleep in the mid 90’s when we had nothing else to do it all for us. But, like everything else, you forget it all, when you have everything spoon fed to you. Tools like WordPress actually make it pretty easy to do most of what you want, it was just being stubborn that made me do it the hard way to get a couple of linked images in the side bar.
